• Cairo Airport → Giza hotels: pre-booked transfer or Uber, 45–75 minutes depending on traffic.
• Cairo → Luxor: fly (1 hr, ~$90 each way) — the sleeper train's 10 hours simply doesn't fit a 4-day plan.
• Cairo → Alexandria: express train (2.5 hrs, ~$15 first class) or private car (3 hrs door-to-door).
• In Luxor: hire a driver for the day (~$40–60) — the West Bank sites are too spread out for taxis site-by-site.

October to April is ideal: 20–28°C days in Cairo and warm, dry Luxor mornings. December–January is busiest, so book flights and hotels 2–3 months out. • Trying to squeeze in a Nile cruise: the shortest real cruise needs 4 nights on its own. Save it for a week-long trip.

• Booking your Luxor–Cairo return the same day as a tight international connection: leave at least 4 hours of buffer, or overnight in Cairo.
